Salmanazar is an export agency for New World wineries, currently working with 90 importers globally, and employing a team of seven full-time sales, logistics, events and admin staff.  We work with 15 estates on a full-time basis to develop export sales, and many more on an ad hoc basis for specific importer requests.  Our head office is located in Montenegro, in beautiful Boka Bay.

THE SALMANAZAR TEAM (from left to right): Nikola Djurkovic | Sales Manager - nikola@salmanazar.co.nz | +382 69 654 925 Nikola is from Tivat and has completed studies as a Maritime Officer and also studied Political Science in Podgorica.  His work as a seaman took him across the world to USA, Middle East, Asia, Sth Africa and around Europe.  After returning to Tivat to live he worked in the marina at Porto Montenegro and then as a manager in Tivat's first gastro pub where he developed his interest in food and wine.  Nikola also grew up making wine each year with his father, as is traditional in Montenegro.  He is currently enrolled for his WSET Level 2 Qualification. Gabrielle Simmers | Managing Director Raised on a sheep farm in southern New Zealand, Gabrielle studied Geology, Botany, Viticulture and Oenology before working ten vintages in NZ, Italy, Germany, Argentina and USA.  After establishing the Asia office for Quintessentially Wine she came back to New Zealand and set up a winery in Hawke's Bay.  Gabrielle launched Salmanazar in 2012 and is now focused on bringing new world wines to Europe and North America. Zarko Tiodorovic | Sales Manager - zarko@salmanazar.co.nz | +382 69 303 043 Zarko grew up in Podgorica, and after studying Entrepreneurial Management in Serbia he returned to manage his family's art gallery, where he gained invaluable business experience.  For the last four years Zarko has excelled in his role as Sales Manager at the largest winery in Montenegro, Plantaze, and he is now focused on a new challenge working with new world wines at Salmanazar.  He holds a WSET Level 1 Qualification. Danka Tiodorovic | Sales Manager - danka@salmanazar.co.nz | +382 68 033 283  Danka grew up in Serbia and lived there until the completion of her studies, graduating with an MSc in Engineering Management. During her studies she spent time in USA at Miami-Dade Community College, and in Barcelona for an exchange program. She then worked at her family’s art gallery, gaining invaluable sales and business experience.  For the last eight years Danka has worked as a senior advisor in the fields of quality and project management, standards development and implementation as well as certification of management system standards.   She comes from a family of wine collectors and wine industry professionals - having been surrounded by wine she is now happy to take on the challenge of working with new world wines.  She holds a WSET Level 1 Qualification. Vedrana Brguljan | Office Manager - vedrana@salmanazar.co.nz | +382 68 524 629 Vedrana grew up in Bosnia & Herzegovina then moved to Belgrade to attend university.   After completion of her studies in Information and Communication Technologies she gained business experience in USA then moved to Montenegro where she worked in various business roles at the super yacht marina Porto Montenegro.  Vedrana brings a wealth of business experience to the Salmanazar team, managing logistics, orders, accounts, administration (and us!).  She holds a WSET Level 1 Qualification. Andrea Raonic  |  Events Manager - andrea@salmanazar.co.nz  |  +382 67 387 883 (pictured below, left) Andrea grew up in the capital city of Podgorica in Montenegro and has been making wine at home with her family since childhood.  Her high school studies included a focus on tourism studies after which she completed a law degree at university.  Andrea has been based in Tivat for several years working as an events manager in hotels, restaurants, clubs and bars.  She has also managed private events such as weddings and concerts.  Andrea is an artist and writer, and has a talent for languages - she speaks Russian and Italian, and is currently learning German and Turkish. Maya Pogosyan | Events Manager - maya@salmanazar.co.nz | +382 68 880 992 (pictured below, right) Maya grew up in Georgia, one of the oldest wine regions in the world, then moved to Moscow to attend university.  After completion of her studies in Information systems in Economy she worked in various business roles at The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. In 2008 Maya joined JTI Marketing & Sales, the leading tobacco company in Russia headquartered in Moscow where for almost 8 years she gained invaluable business experience within various departments. She has successfully led implementation of various Brand marketing initiatives for the two Global flagship brands (Camel & Winston) in a challenging market environment, being responsible for managing and execution of various marketing initiatives. In 2016 she moved to Montenegro where she worked together with her husband in a small HoReCa related business.  Maya also grew up making wine each year with her grandfather, as is traditional in Georgia and she is now happy to focus on a new challenge working with new world wines at Salmanazar. Language skills: Russian – native (proficiency), English – upper intermediate, Serbian – lower intermediate.
